Position: Database & Web Specialist
(Development Department)
Reports To: Auction Manager
Salary Range $2,100.00/mo - $3,500.00/mo
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible to the Auction Manager for bringing order and organization to internal business database software applications within Rocky Mountain PBS Development department with emphasis on auction technical activity. Administers, evaluates, analyzes, implements and maintains auction database and participates in planning of future upgrades and technology enhancements. This shall also include hardware and software coordination along with troubleshooting. Produces routine daily, monthly and special reports and reconciliation with accounting records. Proficiency with the skill of recognizing the underlying details of important facts or patterns. Uses critical thinking processes as a method of studying the auction database or of determining its essential features and their relations to auction processes and revenue goals. Auction Web site design and development; graphic design; computer training and mentoring of Auction staff and volunteers. Specifically facilitates the design of Auction applications, maintains and improves the Auction’s existing website and database, and develops statistical informational reports as needed for the successful implementation of the on-air and online Rocky Mountain PBS Auction spanning the entire Colorado network.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Analyzes user and business needs as it applies to Auction database and software applications. Facilitate testing, validation and implementation of redesigns.
Ensures accuracy and integrity of computer data and establishes efficient processes to manage computer data and prepare statistical and informational reports, meeting necessary deadlines.
Serves as the Auction systems first point of technical contact during on-air and online Auctions. Collaborates with engineering staff and volunteers as required to resolve database and Auction program issues.
Assists Auction Manager in planning and developing the auction database and website. Manages Auction website in collaboration with station webmaster including email creation, maintenance, and advancement along with graphic design, information, and eAuction capabilities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Coordinate database and auction program activities with other stations in the Rocky Mountain PBS television network.
Employs good customer care skills to receive, manage, and resolve volunteer, bidder and donor issues of a technical nature.
Prepares concise, easy-to-use instructions for Auction data processing activities. Trains volunteers and lends support as needed.
Coordinates and trains volunteers to use scanner, digital camera, and web image manipulation.
Responds to volunteers, auction donors, bidders, buyers, staff, station auditors, and the public with requests for information, materials, and problem solving on a timely basis, both orally and through written correspondence. Assist Auction Manager with technical service process improvement.
Performs other duties as assigned, most notably the technical support of other Development Department functions (Membership, Special Events, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer experience: 2 years experience working with MS Access, SQL 2000 or other relational databases, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook. Graphic art editing experience such as: Paintshop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Web Software experience: Worked successfully with Dreamweaver and Fireworks or comparable software. Working knowledge of HTML, ASP, File Management, and VB script.
Demonstrated ability to prepare concise and accurate correspondence, reports, and other written materials in a timely, accurate manner with minimum supervision.
Ability to handle a number of assignments simultaneously during times of high pressure.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers and professional staff.
Flexibility of schedules to accommodate evening and weekend meetings, work schedules and job-related activities.
