This position is for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join a top-notch team of professionals developing next generation optical switching and networking solutions for the telecommunications and data communications markets. The individual should have 5+ years of real-time embedded software development experience in infrastructure/foundation layer, CLI and excellent C and C++ skills. He or she will define, design, implement, integrate and test real-time communication management software features for Calient's family of carrier class optical switching systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Necessary basic knowledge, skills, abilities and education)

Must have a BSEE/CS and a minimum of 5+ years experience


Strong software development skills using C and C++


In-depth knowledge of Realtime OS (init, boot, resource manage)


Strong understanding of Multi-threaded design/implementation


Some knowledge of OOD/P


Experience creating and/or interface with device drivers (FPGA, I2C, DSP)


Strong debugging skills in embedded environment (init/boot code)


Experience with scaleable, fault tolerant, high availability, distributed applications


Experience with completion of one full cycle product development


Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills


Must be able to work with minimal supervision


Experience with distributed system in a real-time environment


DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: (Preferred requirements that are in addition to minimum requirements)





Experience with CORBA preferred


Experience using VxWorks preferred


Experience with PowerPC or Intel processor preferred


MSEE/CS preferred
